When we continually hold things in, our emotions don’t simply disappear. They can build up, leaving us feeling disconnected from ourselves, others and life.
Let’s explore Emotional Expression as a path towards a healthier, freer way of living, using creative journalling to give our emotions space, shape and a voice.
We will explore how holding back our thoughts, needs, feelings and boundaries can become a protective identity, something we have created over time to help us feel safe, accepted or able to cope. But this protective identity is not who we are.
Together, we will meet this part of ourselves with kindness, understanding and curiosity, rather than judgement. Through creative journalling, we will explore some of the stories we have learned to tell ourselves about staying quiet, holding back or fearing emotional expression or saying a blank out NO and begin to gently rewrite them.
This is an invitation to reconnect with your own voice, intuition, needs and feelings, to discover what becomes possible when you no longer have to hide parts of yourself in order to feel safe.
Creative Journalling
We will also explore what creative journalling actually is and discover how creativity can become a way of connecting with ourselves, our intuitions and inner wisdom without needing to be an artist or have any artistic talent.
Through drawing, painting, gluing, writing and playing with different materials, we will have fun creating while using the process as a gentle tool for self reflection.
You will receive a Creative Companion Book to take home, and together we will have fun creating the first one or two pages. The book will then give you gentle creative prompts and exercises to continue exploring yourself, your feelings, your intentions and your next chapter long after the workshop has finished.
This is not about creating something beautiful or getting it “right”. It is about giving yourself permission to explore, express and create.
During the workshop, refreshments will be available, including homemade healthy bread, cake, dark chocolate and fruit.
